Cuban spy numbers stations are shortwave radio stations that transmit coded messages. The messages are usually in the form of Numbers, which are then read out by a voice, often referred to as “The Voice of Cuba”. The Voice of Cuba is a woman who speaks in a monotone and has a heavy Cuban accent.
The messages transmitted by these stations are believed to be from the Cuban Intelligence Agency to their spies in other countries. These stations have been in operation since the 1960s, and their purpose is to communicate with Cuban spies without being detected by the US government. There are thought to be around 10 Cuban spy numbers stations in operation today.
These spy numbers stations are pretty easy to catch, and still interesting in this day and age.
