Shortwave listening antennas are used to receive radio signals in the shortwave radio frequency range, which lies between 3 and 30 MHz. These antennas are typically designed to be highly sensitive and directional, in order to maximize the strength of the received signal. Some common types of shortwave listening antennas include loop antennas, which consist of a loop of wire or tubing that is oriented in a circle or oval shape; long-wire antennas, which consist of a long wire suspended horizontally or vertically; and beam antennas, which consist of multiple elements arranged in a specific pattern to provide directional gain. Shortwave listening antennas can be purchased commercially, or they can be built by the user.
